asics: I move me campaign
I had the privilege to work with Asics & sporting superstars Novak Djokovic & Jan Frodeno on this series of moving portraits.
Each piece investigates the relationship between movement & mental//physical health - paying special attention to the role that hardships, barriers & injuries play in helping us move beyond our limitations.
The basis of each film is driven by an interview between myself and Novak // Jan. The interview uncovers their personal stories as well as the more universal relationships between opposing forces & how to alchemize that it to become a tool for progression.
Novak Djokovic’s interview was shot in Monaco before a big tennis tournament where we were also able to shoot him training in the gym & on the court. We then flew over to his home country of Serbia to shoot his back story with young up & coming local tennis players. It was incredibly inspiring to see the impact Djokovic has had on so many people in Serbia & the opportunities he has opened up for the younger generation.
Jan Frodeno’s interview was shot at his home in the breathtakingly beautiful Spanish Pyranees. He was gracious enough to give us an inside look into his daily life as well as invaluable insight into his outlook & approach to life & sport.
Both films were shot with a very minimal travelling crew - we hired local fixers & minimal tech crew in each country to get the job to standard. The entire process from start to finish was an absolute pleasure - our small team allowed us to move quickly & uncover very personal stories & human truths that will stick with me through all my days.
